What young people forget is that half the country hates liberals, that to pass any bill you have to convince well over 300 people to vote for it, that the entire middle chunk of the country holds the key to winning elections and that it is white people of all ages who keep fucking voting GOP.

Young people fail to understand political realities and therefore get pissed off when things aren't fixed in 18 mths or less.

Tell your fellow young people to try and convince 300 people that aren't all progressive to vote for an idea they have in it's original form with no changes. See how well that works for them, then they may have a small understanding of how politics works.

Also tell young people that half the country are conservative and of the remaining half about a quarter or more are moderates, people only pretend they are progressive until you talk about how progressive policies get paid for, then they flip like pancakes.

This is why young activists irritate the crap out of me sometimes. They think the problem is that we haven't thought of all these solutions before when the actual problem is there are large chunks of the country that would rather die than vote to solve problems. See the pandemic or how many women are still supporting Trump and GOP.

Logic doesn't win in politics, tribalism and fear does.
