Trump’s Burning Through Lawyers Fast, Or Maybe Kise Said “Screw This..”
Guess $3 million’s not enough to make sure a lawyer will trash his entire career for you.
The newest addition to former President Donald Trump’s legal team, Chris Kise, has been sidelined from the Mar-a-Lago documents investigation less than a month after he was brought on to represent Trump in the matter, two sources familiar with the move tell CNN.
Kise is expected to remain on Trump’s legal team but is not leading the work related to the federal government’s investigation into how the former President handled 11,000 documents seized from his Florida home in August following a lengthy effort by the government to retrieve them. The reason for the shift in Kise’s role remains unclear and he may instead focus his efforts on the other investigations Trump is facing, which range from his business practices to the January 6 insurrection.
Now, to be fair, Kise is registered as a Foreign Agent so he wouldn’t get access to the docs anyway, although now with the 11th circuit’s ruling that wouldn’t make a difference as they sent the docs back to DOJ, essentially.
However…it is odd that one of the “big attorneys” that was on the case is somehow now conspicuously missing from anything having to do with the Mar A Lago docs.
Kise was a former solicitor general and was apparently highly experienced in arguing cases before the Supreme Court so for Trump to have removed him means either Kise told Trump something Trump didn’t want to hear, like, “You’re in deep shit, start talking plea deal” or Kise was already sick of dealing with Trump’s famous inability to take advice and his narcissistic attitude and fits of rage that he just took his money and ran.
Either way, interesting things may be afoot.
