I have never watched the Boys but I am not surprised Kripke upped the ante on gore etc. I watched SPN and I remember many an interview with Kripke where he commented he always felt hamstrung by not being able to be more violent and gory. I distinctly remember how excited he was when he got on a platform where he could do whatever he wanted.

I am not averse to gore etc., I just hate it when it becomes the driving force of something. I never was interested in the show because we are currently living it and I don't need more "heroes" who become or are assholes. Look around, we have that already.

As for Jensen and now he's talking about bringing Jared and Jeffrey Dean Morgan onto Boys, I just see a cash grab. Shows tend to lose viewers starting season 3 and 4 and he knows the SPN fandom will flock to where ever to see the former cast, as was evidenced by the numbers jump when Jensen was announced and how Amazon crashed in S3 EP 1 from what I heard. Kripke's going to milk the fandom for all their worth.
