A child is being molested by a priest, the child prays for help, he tells his parents all who shun him because a Man of God wouldn't abuse a child. The priests molests the child for years. The priest lives a long life, safe in his position of power. The child suffers trauma. And GOD DOES NOTHING.

This happens in God's house, perpetrated by his priests.

Tell me again that God is real when he lets children be raped in his own House of Worship.

The debate isn't academic when we see cases daily of abuse by religious leaders and nothing happens to them. God either doesn't exist or doesn't care. And no, I don't give a flying fuck if the priest will be punished later, because if he repents before he dies he gets a nice little get out of Hell free card.
